Neither GW Bush nor the Democrats have the resolve to attack Iraq AND see the consequences of an ouster of Saddam Hussein
(AND the Ba'ath Regime) through. Sadly, most American on both the right and the ostensible left who may be in favor of Saddam's ouster are unwilling to concede the responsiblity to help a post war Iraq rebuild herself. My impression is that while many Americans seem to favor a viscerally rewarding(?) and superficial solution, I fear that we will attack Iraq and just bomb the hell out of her infrastructure and leave her people (even more) desolate, with only token, guilt-salving efforts at reconstruction. If we do this, in the long run we will have made our problems in this region much, much worse. We already seem to be headed in this direction in Afghanistan. And I haven't even said anything about the obscenity of such belligerence, made doubly obscene if we leave the country in tatters. And therebye inviting a future... September 12th?

If the GOP does well in November, Bush will probably face Gore again, because all the other presumptive big time dems will bide their time and pass on '04. I have asserted this on the internet. So now it's bound to be true!
